Scrappers

Did I Do That? doesn’t have a studio anymore!? Whatever!  We don't need a studio, we need a tuxedo, because it might well be the last episode of season 8 as well!* Jack-of-all trades creative Scrappers sits down with Sean one last time in the Rat’s Nest to talk about his design mistakes… as well as professional papier-mâché, the Scarlett Pushpin, and knives: the perfect job interview gift. Grab a sandwich from your lifetime supply and settle in—this one is a wild ride!

Justin “Scrappers” Morrison is a creative human pocketknife. He's capable of handling all sorts of work from art direction, illustration, copy writing, creative team assembling and making dreams come to life. He’s been handy at Wieden+Kennedy, the Portland Mercury, North, and Stay Wild Magazine. Scrappers is currently the Brand Creative Director at Danner boots in Portland, Oregon. He’s worn many hats, but now he wears many boots. See his art, read his stories, and learn more about his work at humanpocketknife.com. You can also follow Scrappers on Instagram at @scrappers.

*while I do hope that’s not the case, expect a bit of a programming gap either way while I get the move sorted out and take some much needed recovery time off. Sorry about that!

Upcoming Events

Bottom of the Barrel is back at Seattle Design Festival 2026!

Saturday, August 15, 2026
5:30pm
Seattle Design Festival Mainstage in Lake Union Park

Critiques are rarely competitive affairs, but that doesn’t mean designers don’t know what it’s like to lose at one. What if you could take that work the world rejected, though, and flips its downfall into a victory? And what if you could also do it live on stage, in competition with another designer, to see whose worst-ever work really is the bottom of the barrel?

Did I Do That?: Back to the Bottom of the Barrel gives the Seattle design community a chance to dig into their archives and share that shame with the world, defanging it with laughter in the process. A panel of Seattle’s best graphic designers will talk through their most hilariously regrettable projects live on stage.

Together, we’ll reflect on what made that work the way it the way it is and how making it has helped them grow. Then, you’ll help decide whose work is bad enough to win our trophy made out of a trash can. It’s a funny, irreverent chance to unpack the fear of feedback while celebrating something that rarely gets to be at center stage—the messy work you have to make to get to somewhere better.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: While I’ll be taking a bit longer than I’d expected to both unpack and recuperate before new stuff returns to the podcast feed, our Seattle Design Festival event is a great way to keep engaged with the show in the meantime. Last year’s version of this event was a hugely fun time for the live audience and I’m so excited to be heading back to the SDF mainstage to talk through some silly design mistakes yet again. There may well be some other events coming up this summer as well which haven’t been announced, so stay tuned to our Substack or Instagram for updates!
