Alanna Risse is a Web Developer, Artist, and Instructor. Risse currently teaches Interactive Media I and II in PSU’s school of Art + Design. She is also a Senior Educator at Thinkful.com, an online bootcamp which offers online intensive courses in Web Design and Web Development. Risse is a founding member of Ceti Institute, a creative technology non-profit. For two and a half years she ran a curatorial practice called Verge PDX who’s focus was getting art from local emerging artists on the walls of Portland’s small businesses. She has an MFA in Visual Studies from PNCA and a BFA in painting/drawing from CCA.
Risse has enjoyed residencies at the Portland Building, Leiland Ironworks in Oregon City, SIgnal Fire Arts in Arizona and Colorado, Sou’Wester arts in Seaview Washington, and Berges in Caunes Minervois, France. Her large installations and paintings have been displayed at Linfield gallery in McMinville, Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, STUDIO Gallery and Live Worms Gallery San Francisco, the Oakland Art Gallery in Oakland CA, and Rainmaker Artist Residency.
Alanna Risse lives on the unceded lands of the Cowlitz, Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, and Clackamas tribes, now often referred to as Portland, Oregon.
